A Tough Night for the 1st Team!
It was a night that’s going to haunt a few of the first team last night.
First up was 2nd team captain CLS who should be mega proud of his contribution. He played a very experienced and former Neston member in Mike Potter. CLS showed that he can definitely compete at this level and went toe to toe. The killer was that Mike didn’t drop in pace or intensity. A really hard fought and well deserved point for the team with a 3-1 loss.
Both Ben and Tomo a bit sore about their losses last night. Both 3-1 and both of them had chances to take it into the 5th. Ben was hard done by an opponent who could and would slot it from anywhere. Tomo felt he was technically better than his opponent but he just couldn’t convert winning positions. Any other day and they’d both win them.
Matt’s game was an odd one. He definitely had the measure of his opponent and I think with a bit more concentration he’d have done him. Couple of wasteful shots at the wrong time just gave the initiative away. Really well played though and a 3-1 loss.
Jamie was fantastic. Never have I ever seen him play like this before. Everything clicked. Massive grit and determination. Recovered his concentration after a loose second game to reapply himself which was the most impressive part. Dug in. Reverted to no error squash when he needed and got the level of swagger and confidence right. Absolutely belting performance. Should be very proud of himself for that one.
